Single Incision Laparoscopic Surgery (SILS)
Single incision laparoscopic surgery is a modern technique in laparoscopic surgery. A 20 mm incision, the size of an average button is made in or near the navel area. A surgeon inserts a scope through this incision. The scope acts as the surgeons eyes guiding him throughout the surgery. Organ extraction if required is also done through the same incision. As the incision is minute in size, the skin recovers without any trace of scars.

Liver resection
|Nephrectomy
Nissen fundoplication
Cryoablation
Hysterectomy
Hernia repair

Minimally Invasive Surgery (Laparoscopic Surgery)
Minimally Invasive Surgery also known as Laparoscopic Surgery is a surgical technique. Small incisions no bigger than the navel are created. A laparoscope which is a fiber optic instrument with a camera at one end is inserted through the incision. The abdomen is inflated using carbon dioxide gas creating a dome to operate within.
Laparoscopic surgery is successfully used in surgical treatment of the appendix, gallbladder, kidneys, adrenal glands and other organs in the abdominal and torso area.

Speeds up recovery
Shorter hospital stay
Reduces post operative pain
Restricts exposure of internal organs eliminating chances of infection
Cut backs on pain relieving medication
Lower medical bill because of brief stay at hospital
Disadvantages of Single Incision Laparoscopic Surgery & Minimal Invasive Surgery
The surgery may take a little longer otherwise SILS does not have any real disadvantages when performed by an experienced surgeon. Single incision laparoscopic method may not be used in all laparoscopic procedures.
